The Sabadell-based industrial company Mikalor Group, founded in 1943, will leave the Gràcia Sud Economic Activity Zone (PAE) to relocate to the PAE Business Park in Sant Pau de Riu-sec.

The new facility, with a built surface area of 8,500 m², will be ready starting in the second half of June. "We are a company from Sabadell, and we were very excited to stay here. The area is privileged, very well connected, and surrounded by green spaces," explains the president and CEO of Mikalor Group, Carlos Garriga.

The move to the new facilities will be gradual, and it is not expected that the company's three business units — Mikalor Fastening Solutions and Mikalor Hose Clamps (now merged), and the corporate services — will operate simultaneously at the new location until the first quarter of 2026.

The centralization of manufacturing in Sant Pau de Riu-sec, which will employ around sixty people, will mean the closure of the plant in Sant Fruitós de Bages. "We will start with the Sabadell plant, due to its proximity. We have to move around 160 production units, and each machine has its own complexity. We estimate the entire transfer process could take between three and six months," says Garriga.

With the move to the new facilities — 7,800 m² mainly dedicated to the production of clamps — Mikalor Group will end over twenty years in Gràcia Sud, where it had been based since the early 2000s and from where it currently produces five million clamps per month.

"We have a very mature product and a highly competitive market, and image is very important. We are receiving more and more client visits, and it was desirable to centralize everything and present a more defined image. We've thought through and worked on improving productivity levels too. We've automated processes and estimate we’ll recover the investment in ten years. There’s room for growth, but it depends on the international market," adds Carlos Garriga.

In parallel with the construction of the new plant and to minimize disruption, the company has expanded the commercial unit Damesa's facilities in Castellar del Vallés by an additional 2,000 m². "We will gain space and take the opportunity to move safety stock there to increase volumes. Still, our policy is not about volume but about delivering excellent service to maintain margins."
